I gently pushed and the door didn't move. She had problems getting the adjustable foot to grip the wood floor. I bought this for my girlfriend for a little extra security while I'm out of town. Then i threw my shoulder into it 2 times and the plastic yoke shattered and went flying across the room. So i tried and was able to get it to work. Then she said push on the door and see if it works. I only weigh 170lbs. Needless to say.we decided on a German Shepard instead.
I love this security bar. It works as advertised. We don't live in a bad neighborhood, but we have a 2 month old at home now and it gives me a little more sense of security at night. It's exactly what I was looking for.
It actually worked the way the company said it would and my money was refunded promptly. I thought this was a good product but it arrived with a part missing so I had to return it. The best part of this whole experience was the return process. Kudos to Amazon.I work in a field that deals with consumer issues with various internet companies and I must say that Amazon is a standout. I would not hesistate to order from them in the future based on this experience.
After I put the bar in place, I use my heal to kick it firmly into place. I love it. I am a Navy mom and have had this security bar for about 3 years. We have used this in 2 different houses and my 6 foot 200 pound fit husband hasn't been able to break into either house with it. It always makes me feel safer when my husband is away. I'm an average 5'5 woman. I am about to order one for my younger sister since she moved into her first apartment. I also recommended this to all my other Navy wife friends.
I just bought this bar at Home Depot and tried it.I am about 200 pounds and I hit the door with 50% of forth, and it just broke.Don't rely on it.
